FAQ
How can we help you?
This is a menstrual cup, a bell-shaped soft silicone cup that collects your period blood. It is reusable up to 10 years, so it is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional single use plastic menstrual care products. |
A menstrual cup can be worn up to 12 hours without emptying it and it can hold up to 3-4 times the capacity of a regular tampon, giving you the freedom that you need to enjoy whatever you want to do without worrying about your period. These are the menstrual cup parts:
There are 3 phases:
⦁ Cleaning
For optimal menstrual hygiene, menstrual cups need to be sterilised at least before and after each menstrual cycle. Sterilise your menstrual cup with the Pure Ella steriliser or boil it in a pot before using it. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap before holding the sterilised cup.
⦁ Insertion
The cup needs to be folded before inserted (refer to the “How to fold your menstrual cup” section to find out about the different types of folding). Hold the folded cup and insert into your vagina. Once inside, remove the fingers so that the cup opens, and it needs to fully open to create the required seal to avoid leaks. To make sure it’s open, you can rotate it slightly or use your finger to make sure the rim is in contact with your vagina. Finally, pull the stem gently, and if you feel some resistance, it means that the cup is sealed and correctly placed.
⦁ Extraction
Wash your hands and dry your fingers for a better grip. Grasp the stem of the cup and pull it until you reach the main body of the cup. Pinch as far up the cup as possible to release the seal and make the extraction easier. Pull the cup out at a sideways angle to allow more air to enter. Empty the cup and wash it before inserting it again. If your period is finished, sterilise the cup before storing it.
The Pure Ella menstrual cup box includes a detailed Instructions guide inside which will guide you through the process.

It is made of 100% medical silicone, and it is hypoallergic, nontoxic and free of latex, Phthalate, BPA and dioxins. This ensures that it is safe to remain inside human bodies for long periods of time and it does not alter the natural PH of your vagina, which makes them very safe and healthy for you.
